West Liberty is a resource-rich city that’s strong in volunteerism and supportive of education. In fact, West Liberty’s elementary, middle, and high schools are designated International Spanish Academies (ISAs) that provide bilingual learning opportunities to Hispanic residents.
The town’s Downtown Commercial Historic District is on the National Register of Historic Places in Muscatine County. Along the brick streets you’ll find a renovated movie theater, dance studios, antiques, Iowa’s only puppet theatre, and a variety of restaurants. Eight public parks provide recreational opportunities for swimming, skating, soccer, baseball or softball, Frisbee golf, and hiking. A golf course and shooting range are also nearby.
West Liberty hosts many annual events, including Music in the Park during the summer, a Children’s Festival, and dirt-track races at the Muscatine County Fairgrounds.
